‘Thx Fr The Mmrs’ kicks off with an urgent-sounding strings section, reminding of pop-punk peers Panic! At The Disco, accompanied by some sugar-coated vocal work from main man Patrick Stump. Whilst that sounds great, it does also have an air of the ‘Backstreet Boys’ about it, which seems to come as standard with FOB these days. The chorus to the song is punchy and upbeat, toe-tappingly infectious and a testament to the sound on which Fall Out Boy have built their empire. As a single, the song is a great choice; it is easily the best song from the new album. It’s not ‘Take This To Your Grave’ enough for the hardcore fans, but the kids are gonna love it.
