There is a theory about Blur that Albarn wrote perfect pop songs and Graham Coxon - armed with his guitar- tried his best to ruin them. And this is exactly what made them so good. The same could be said with Envelopes. A seemingly routine Talking Heads rip off is soon bearing witness to effects laden guitar lines, screeches, scratches and shrieks. There are more ideas in this one song than the Kaiser Chiefs have in a lifetime. A wonderfully weird track even if the title makes Panic! At The Disco’s song names seem short in comparison.
