Fusing the sing-out-loud driving aesthetic of bands like Underoath with the dance worthy mid 90’s Euphoria scene resulting in a hybrid sound that could be likened to White Zombie on ecstasy, is a feat in itself. Making it sound good is a damn sight harder. Enter Shikari’s sound shouldn’t work at all, and whoever thought dance with emo mixed with metal could sound so good? The fact is, these boys are onto something decent with their new single ‘Anything Can Happen In The Next Half Hour’ and they get top marks for sticking to their aural guns and creating their own sound and success all on their own. The have made an almost unmarketable sound easily accessible to those who just want something to rock out to or sing big chorus lines with, as you can easily hear all they care about is the music and making everyone in the room they may be playing to at that time, have an absolute ball. Expect big things from these lads. Where Test Icicles failed, these boys will succeed.
