Come in The View, your ‘Same Jeans’ time as worst lyrics known to man are over! “I love you more than my record collection, I love you more than my football team. I love you more than my Adidas trainers. If you knew me better you’d know how much that means”. ‘Love You More’ is so bad it almost sounds ironic, it makes The Twang sound like Oscar Wilde. OK, so you love your girlfriend; that’s lovely but even she is probably cringing that you love her more than “Tony Soprano” so imagine how we feel. Luckily The Hours do make a nice enough racket on the music side of things and ‘Love You More’ treads a nice line in Queens Of The Stoneage riffage and the frantic, gravely vocal delivery of Antony Genn sustains interest for the full three minutes. The most frustrating thing about this song is how good it could be- but sadly the cultural references are tired and the intended sentiment is lost. Next time make it an instrumental song.
