Upon hearing Wolf & Cub’s new single ‘This Mess’, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were hearing a parody of Jet. They may have parallels, but Wolf & Cub manage to inject more than a touch of psychedelic rock to the indie formula. From the upbeat drums to the infectious riff, this tune manages to do something a little different in a scene teetering on the brink of stagnancy. Evoking this rock’n’roll spirit comes at a price, though. Production on the record could have been a little better and the song occasionally sounds too formulaic. Other than that, though, it’s a solid effort from the young Australian four-piece.
