Hailed as one of the most influential British hip-hop artists of this generation, Yorkshire Dales rapper Braintax unfortunately leaves a stale taste in the mouth upon listening to the A-side of this 2-track single ‘Syriana Style’. The title track plays out as a political statement loosely stapled to a backbeat which simply doesn’t suit it. The vocal work here, however, is commendable and clearly passionate. Samples from George Dubbya himself certainly help highlight the theme, it’s just a shame the track couldn’t live up to its B-side ‘Anti-Grey’ which showcases a far more melodic and soulful side to this Northern prodigy.
