The first single from this Belfast artist's second album Songs from the Deep Forest, 'Freewheel' is an epic track chock full of intense strings, shakers, piano, tambourine, and great vocals with subtle backing meoldies. The only complaint that could be mustered about the track is that he is hardly cracking into any new boundaries. Detractors could idly draw comparisons to the likes of Snow Patrol, but Duke Special’s range and lyrical complexity is much more accomplished than that. Definitely worth a listen for anyone who hasn’t discovered him yet.
