If Kid A-era Radiohead had been asked to rework The Cure’s ‘A Forest’ they might have come up with something akin to this jittery beast. Bass and drums are restless and robotic as snatches of strangulated brass, sinister guitar arpeggios and frazzled computer noises spasmodically drop in and out of the mix. The cumulative effect is insidiously compelling, and the track resembles the ghostly corners of PiL’s ‘Metal Box’ in its slightly unhinged ambience. However, singer Alec Ounsworth’s vocal may not be to everyone’s taste, suggesting as it does David Byrne trying to ignore a fart by putting a clothes peg on his nose.
