More Lady Sovereign

Lady Sovereign’s CV is looking surprisingly impressive. Across the pond this particular track has download sales of over 100,000 and has become the most requested video on MTV. She’s also managed to drag hip hop heavyweight Missy Elliot in for a remix. All in all it sounds like an incredible build up for what is essentially an average single. Her lyrics lack the razor sharp edge that contemporaries Eminem and the Streets exhibit. “Go on then go on report me, I’m English try and deport me,” is an example of an artist desperately short of ideas. She is a similar character to Princess Superstar and will follow the controversy creates cash line for the time being, but to really become successful she will need to go back to the drawing board because this is unoriginal and has less focus than Pete Doherty after a night out.
