‘Tales From Studio Six’ is an EP of five pop tunes perfect for fans of ‘nice’ music. ‘Stay The Night’ starts things off in a light, bright style - this would have perhaps done well in the 80’s with its strong bass line and blend of piano, trumpets and gentle vocals. ‘The World Outside’ is stronger in a sound reminiscent of The Delays, but it’s still too inoffensive and bland to make you remember the song. Unfortunately this dull streak continues in ‘Ghosts’, a song lacking in imagination and sounding like a bad Zutons cover; the acoustic guitars, weak vocals and limited use of the abilities of a rhythm section make for a song with no depth of sound or imagination. Ghosts' last two songs, ‘Further & Further Away’ and ‘Musical Chairs’ are not much different from the others in sound, style and lyrics. Perfect if you like your music soft and inoffensive, but if you want something that’s got a little more life and soul to its sound, you’re going to have to look elsewhere.
