There can be no denying that Mr Nutini has a beautiful voice (probably to match his beautiful face), and it’s this voice that makes this song stand out from the many boring releases from male songwriters available at the moment. Its rough, husky deliciousness is enough to make any hot-blooded woman swoon, and its sentiments of lost opportunities enough to bring a tear to one’s eye. To be fair, it doesn’t show much progression or variation from Paolo’s other singles – the build up from a reflective verse to a chorus with a faster tempo is standard Nutini – but is ideal when you don’t want to think too hard about what’s being pumped into your ears.
