More Scissor Sisters

Despite the fact that it’s a blatant attempt at a Christmas number one, ‘Land of a Thousand Words’ is quite a sweet love ballad that tugs at the old heart strings with its sentimental lyrics. With a totally different vibe from ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’, expect the two songs to be played at opposite ends of the works Christmas do. Vocalist Jake Shears seems to be taking his influence from early Elton John, both musically and in terms of sheer campness. But the song’s heart seems to be in the right place, so find someone to cuddle up to next to the fire and enjoy the fuzzy feeling inside.
