Wolfmother have had a pretty fantastic year, all in all. They’ve sold almost 900,000 copies of their debut album, claimed a top 40 UK hit, and now their latest single, ‘Joker and the Thief,’ has been used as the lead track for the second Jackass film. But listening to the song itself doesn’t exactly make it too obvious why. The track sounds like a hundred seventies prog rock bands you might care to mention complete with repetitive guitar riffs and noodly solos. But then again derivative, classic-sounding rock always did sell well. If nothing else, Wolfmother pack some punch with this song, but it’s with a swing that you can see coming a mile off.
