There’s a hint of childhood innocence to this new single from I Was a Cub Scout. The gentle keyboards which layer the music and the youthful vocals remind you of days when you had fewer miles on the clock, not surprising really considering this duo have a combined age of just 34. I Was a Cub Scout sound similar to current breakthrough acts such as The Library Trust and Enter Shikari with that essential feeling of freshness reverberating off them and an undiscovered innovation in their music. In equal parts ‘Pink Squares’ is electronica, indie and emo and this blurring of the genres is the exciting element to the band because you’re not quite sure where they’ll go next.
