Muse - 'Knights of Cydonia' (Warners) Released 27/11/06

Muse are certainly showing off their eclectic side on their latest album ‘Black Holes and Revelations’.  They’ve progressed from sleazy rock (Supermassive Black Hole) to straight ahead pop (Starlight) and now raise the bar significantly in their new single ‘Knights of Cydonia’. It’s probably vastly unfair to label ‘Starlight’ as Muse on autopilot but ‘Knights’ puts their previous single release to shame.  If you don’t like the beautifully epic build up and gentle but urgent vocals which wrap themselves around the song fair enough, but you’re probably a robot if you don’t like the riff which Matt Bellamy blasts out as the track reaches its climax.  This is the closest anyone has gotten to replicating Pink Floyd’s penchant for atmosphere and as such Muse are set to release their greatest single so far.
