




If the opening handclaps aren’t enough to get you wondering what’s about to unfold, the dings of the glockenspiel definitely will be. Fear not however, ‘When It Falls,’ The Race's second single, is no Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Rather it’s a dreamy account of perseverance and endeavour. “I’ll try to live right,” says singer (and glockenspiel maestro), Dan Buchanan. The songs musical power comes from its ups and downs. The simple but effective Glockenspiel rings out during instrumental sections, while, The Races guitars take on a more impassioned Bloc Party-esque rhythm come the powerful climax. While its tranquil components definitely operate above nursery rhyme specifications, its message is just as evocative and gripping.
