Countless bands claim to be a sub-genre, freewheeling pigeon who can’t be holed into a certain style. On the whole that’s a naive façade in order to appear original. One listen to ‘Frontline’ however, and it is clear Captain really are flying alone. Frontline features the perfect union of emotive music with vocal intent. The beautiful hypnotic synths and palm-soft riffs tenderly give resonance to the raw romance of the lyrics. The song is built around the personal sounding lyrical exchange of, “Frontline, I want you,” between singers which leaves you feeling like your eavesdropping on a private conversation. The single flows to a climatic crescendo like a good book, but like the band behind the song, there’s just one page missing to keep the mystery intact.
