“Hotter than your average bitch/ Flick on, flick off my switch.” Bet you weren’t expecting those opening lines? Well, welcome to the world of the Soho Dolls. ‘No Regrets,’ their third single, sees them use this art of shock-tactics to devastating effect. With a bass line that reverberates through your heart like a machine gun (and then there’s the drum rolls!), this disco-electro gem is evidence of what would happen if Goldfrapp took Viagra for a headache. While a fusion of succulent synths and litigious lyrics give it its sex appeal, subtle guitar hooks help it maintain a raw and barbed sound. It might be unpolished, but coming from Soho we shouldn’t want it, let alone expect it, any other way.
