Better known as Joan Wasser, former girlfriend of Jeff Buckley, our Joan has worked with Nick Cave and Antony and The Johnsons. Like a ‘Dry’ era PJ Harvey she has an air of restrained tension that sounds ready to explode at any minute. The guitars swirl around overhead, but never come into land. ‘Happiness Is A Violator’ is Alanis Morrisette, cramming too many words into one sentence, while ‘Endless Supply of Poison’ is like a song The Pixies forgot about. Joan is like a modern day Patti Smith, there’s something about her, but no-one’s quite sure what.
