‘12:59 Lullaby’ is as sweet, warm, and ultimately as soporific as the title would suggest. This sadly screams coffee table louder than one of those irritating whistling kettles. However, their saccharine salvation is in the elegant, plaintive beauty of Jay Malinowski’s vocals. His meandering howls do detract rather, but the haunting quality his layered, ‘you don’t want me anymore’ laments on ‘Jeb Rand is Sailin’ On’ once more serve as redemption. Without these, they could desolately be floundering in a dangerous Blunt-infested sea of, dare I say it, ‘housewife grooves’.
