It’s safe to say that the majority of Imogen Heap's fans own the box set of all 3 seasons of The OC and close their eyes and dream of living an entirely dysfunctional life in a series of expensive outfits. Having her songs played over the climactic scenes in both series 2 and 3 of The OC gave Imogen the kind of exposure Simon Cowell writes to Santa for. ‘Headlock’ is taken from Heaps album ‘Speak For Yourself’ and is produced and written by Imogen herself. Technically it clocks in at just over 3 minutes but it seems much longer given the twists, turns and slides it takes the listener on, electronic blips, synth blasts, harp strokes and stadium sized drums all contribute to a fantastically quirky pop song. If you think the radio edit is good then you will love the High Contrast remix that is thrown in as a B-Side, with typically dirty beats mixing with Imogen’s pure as snow vocals a sonic juxtaposition is formed and has just bumped this review up another half a star.
