Field Music - 'In Context' (Memphis Industries) Released 09/10/06

Field Music are an odd lot really. Sited as the forefathers for the jerky punk of The Futureheads and also playing a key role in Maximo Parks history the Brewis brothers have never had the same success with their own band when it comes to record sales. It’s a shame really considering the sumptuous blend of complex vocal harmonies and simple but charming musical landscapes that Field Music produce. ‘In Context’ is the first single taken from the band's forthcoming second album ‘Tones Of Town’ and whilst enjoyable shows no real progress from the bands debut album. Moving neither more towards the mainstream nor more experimental means that any chance of gaining peoples attention is unlikely. Sadly thanks to record label deliberation we will have to wait until January to see whether the album boasts anything better, here’s hoping it does.
