Ahh, God bless Amusement Parks on Fire. Arriving aboard a My Bloody Valentine-esque fuzzy haze of white noise, eventually over the clamour of guitars and effects peddles ‘In Flight’ soon transcends into that rare spine-tingling indie opus. Admittedly, their sound is a bit frayed around the edges - front man Michael Feerick’s sonorous, slightly American drawl fails to match the voluminous instrumentation - yet this only adds to their raw, earthy appeal. On the flip side, we get the rockier ‘You Made Me Realise’, the static and Godspeed YBE-esque eerie drone of ’Of The Collapsing Light’ and the post rock and suitably epic soundscape of ‘Alafoss Exit.’ Brilliant.
