Angular, 70s orientated rock has obviously been very much de rigueur these last few years. On this evidence Five O’ Clock Heroes have the choppy bass line, the yelped vocals….but there influences definitely seem to edge more towards the poppier end of things than some of their counterparts. Rather than Gang of Four, The Jam etc this melodic debut offering from the Anglo/American group is reminiscent of the likes of The Police and The Knack’s ’My Sharona’. Not necessarily a bad thing and the generous inclusion of thee decent extra tracks suggests these guys might be worth keeping an eye on.
