Texas sextet Sound Team’s debut offering from the forthcoming album Movie Monster is layered with subtle hooks and catchy lyrics. A sympathetically produced record (Mike McCarthy, And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead) it lets the music speak for itself. Matt Oliver has an appealing earnestness to his vocal style backed up by solid bass lines and a toe-tapping chorus. The record overall is reminiscent of Arcade Fire mixed up with Echo and the Bunnymen. With the internet murmurings sounding good and a strong first single it looks like Sound Team will be in the ‘ones to watch’ bracket.
