Stephen Malkmus - 'Kindling for the Master' (Domino) Released 28/08/06

As we all know sometimes remixes can be the best part of a single, so Stephen Malkmus has taken the opportunity to just release his single as a variety of remixes. Here every remix junkie is satisfied. First are two vocal remixes which have surprisingly weak vocals but are propped up by various smooth bass lines and cool percussion. It grooves right up until the second vocal remix which contains a little more drum and bass. There are high hopes for the Hot Chip remix but again the bass is the best part of the track, and it's a little disappointing. In the end the remixing can get a little too much so it's only recommended for hardcore listeners.
