Previously known for being the token folk artist on the Mercury Music Prize list, Seth Lakeman is back with a new album and a more mainstream sound. ‘Lady Of The Sea’ is a soaring self-penned ditty of love and loss with an up tempo beat and impressive instrumentation. Expensive production turns Lakemans violin from a stigma laden instrument into a unique selling point whilst his voice is passionate, strong and impressive. Ultimately Lakeman may fail given that his folksy sound is too left field for the mainstream but as a stepping stone into the world of folk ‘Lady Of The Sea’ is a great place to start.
