In the year since Gigwise favourites Pink Riot first perforated our ear drums and liquidised our grey matter they have transformed from a demented dance-punk duo into a sometimes impregnable experimental synth led noise-core trio (In fact they’re now a four piece having added a bass player in recent weeks - Ed). This, there debut single, plucks the most viscerally interesting songs from their current live set and runs head long into the realms of true brilliance. Lead track ‘Impressions’ kicks Liars up their desolate New York asses with reams of wraithlike keyboards and tortured vocals from front man Mike Yianni as he screams “Stop telling me all your stories!” ‘Give Up’ then goes off at a simply mind blowing tangent defying the most leaden of feet to stand still as the dirtiest of beats repeat incessantly alongside a pirouetting frenzy of knife edge guitars and Yianni ripping his vocal chords to shreds. In these times of increased repetition their inventiveness stands out with the starkest of contrasts.
