It's seems a while since Polytechnic were mentioned on the upcoming indie band list among music fans. Maybe it's because everyone confused Polysics with Polytechnic or maybe it's because the band were lost among several indie bands tipped for the top, but the fact of the matter is that the band's single 'Pep' is a brilliant pop song and should be noticed. Granted, what this track is saying is not quite distinguishable but as the starting riff kicks in it doesn't really matter. Lead singer Dylan's vocals are similar to that of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah but without the suicidal drawl. This is then followed by the darling keyboard accompaniment in the second verse, just in case it became a little too serious for the listener. This song is light, summery and has fun written all over it, which judging by a band who are willing to let their dog drive a van into space, is exactly what they were going for.
