'I Just Caught A Face' is the first single to be taken from the The Basement’s debut album 'Illicit Hugs & Playground Thugs'. the fact is, there’s already too much of this kind of thing around on the indie scene at the moment, like their label mates The Coral, The Zutons and also The Stands. Do we need any more? What we get is 60's influenced country and blues tinged fodder and it's alright to nod your head to whilst passing away a lazy afternoon. But, sadly, it's also nothing special and lyrically and musically it's not too smart either, despite the boys' best efforts to add an interesting organ segue at the tail end of the song. Average.
