Blooming nora, for a three piece The Early Years haven’t half got a voluminous sound. Beggars latest babies nonchalantly sing through a murky sci-fi haze of shimmering echoing guitars, walls of effects pedals and clambering beats. Imagine My Bloody Valentine if they sang in tune and wrote coherent melodies and you’d have a slight inkling of The Early Years’ fuzz-laden sound. Hinting at another side to Londoner’s art, backing track ‘Rats’ is angelically sung, poignant and quite beautiful - in fact the exact opposite of the connotations of its name. Mightily impressive, we’ll wait for the next instalment from The Early Years with bated breath.
