Belle and Sebastian – ‘White Collar Boy’ (Rough Trade) Released 26/06/06

As per usual for June in the UK, it’s raining.  But just close your eyes and put on ‘White Collar Boy’ and you’re immediately transported to warmer climes.  Its sunny outlook is ideal for a summer of touring festivals, and its 70s influence fits in well with the current retro revival.  Light, gentle guitars and call and response vocals add to the relaxing mood.  However, it is second track, ‘’Heaven In The Afternoon’ that really hits the spot.  Haunting, whispery vocals from Sarah Martin float over a beautiful acoustic arrangement – so sit back, try to find the sun and relax – Belle and Sebastian are here to chill you out.
