It’s been a good year for Swedish folk sensation Jose Gonzalez. Debut album Veneer was released to rapturous applause from the public and critics alike, Sony picked up Heartbeats for their advert with the bouncy balls, and chill-out supremos Zero 7 asked him to guest on their latest album. This latest single, a cover of a Kylie Minogue ‘classic’, sees the purple patch continue. Virtually unrecognisable from the light hearted SAW fluff it once was, Jose’s 'Hand On Your Heart' is no ironic makeover – it works perfectly, with his flawless voice giving the surprisingly poignant lyrics a depth no one could have thought possible. Unnecessary maybe, but enjoyable nonetheless.
