If ever a moniker was guaranteed to commercially stifle a band at birth then Snowfight In The City Centre would probably be it. Shame, because this Manchester based six-piece are already an accomplished if slightly unremarkable outfit, judging by this debut, limited edition 7”. ‘No Light Left’, despite it’s chiming guitars and sign-posted gravitas, shies enough from template ‘X & Y’ to hint that the space left by those, er, giants of rock Haven and The Open won’t be empty for much longer. Better is the flip ‘My Saving Grace’: stately, piano-led, with an angry bit a minute in that sounds like a half-asleep Elbow. Snowfight In The City Centre? Well, at least it's better than Anal ****.
