The Triffids download only single 'Wide Open Road' marks the rerelease of their album Born Sandy Devotional on July 5. Critically lauded in the eighties and ever since, 20 years on Wide Open Road sounds slightly dated, but undeniably a classic. The sweeping keyboards and swooning vocals are packed with emotion for a band named after a film about man eating alien plants. Harking back to the days of Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club, The Triffids show there’ s nothing wrong with looking back, if only to see how far you’ve come.
