Anyone who has seen The Automatic play live will testify that they are a true joy to behold, pure teenage aggression and energy with synth player Pennie often looking like he might combust at any moment. On record however they somehow manage to fall short of their electric live act. ‘Monster’ is the bands third release and boasts an enormous chorus, shredding guitars and more sing along moments than Embrace could muster in a career. ‘Monster’ is good, but after the impressive ‘Raoul’ and even better ‘Recover’ The Automatics releases are getting progressively worse each time. Are they running out of good songs? Lets hope the forthcoming album proves us wrong.
