Like a phoenix from the imploding flames of the mighty Mclusky, Jon Chapple’s current incarnation, Shooting At Unarmed Men, delivers the first single from forthcoming debut long player ‘Yes! Tinnitus’, in the form of ‘Girl’s Music;’ a gyrating bass lead, attack on the demise of a relationship. Perfecting the quite/loud dynamic favoured in the pseudo-deprecating whine of EMO, ‘Girls Music’ is more Pixies than The Promise Ring, and builds to an anger fuelled climax of guitar mimicking screams and girl mimicking lyrics, ‘when the grant that came/that granted shit/how can you sit/I hope you can’t sleep/I hope you like listening to music made for girls.’ Well, actually, there’s a penchant for Girls Music around these parts…Rocking!
