Like a seedy alternative to the White Stripes, with an even more obscure lead singer than Karen O, Annie Hardy delivers a refreshing diversion away from the dominant indie-disco domain. Distorted electric guitar riffs, uplifting drum beats, combined with Hardy’s slurring lyrics, makes ‘This Isn’t It’ an underground favourite. A melody reminiscent of something that could fit easily into The Breeders’ portfolio, Giant Drag are making indie music like it used to be – which is not always a bad thing.
