Lorraine are a Norwegian three piece dealing in ice sharp euro pop with soaring vocals and electronic backing. ‘I Feel It’ is the band’s debut single and a very self assured one it is too. It begins sounding like a junior U2 and moves on to being a camp Eurovision style sing along. Ole Gunnar Gundersen has a clear and powerful voice, “ Put your best smile on and say it like you mean it”. The bands drummer, a little black box, does exactly what it’s told and Myran Haaland (are they all named after Norwegian footballers?) creates a range of pretty keyboard noises over the top. Lorraine have a unique mixture of something that is both danceable and relaxing, whether thy have what it takes to keep us engaged remains to be seen, but this is a great start.
