Who remembers Whirlwind Heat? They got pretty hyped about 3 years ago when they wore matching t shirts and boasted Jack White as a fan. Surprise surprise the hype didn’t translate into record sales and the band have been quiet ever since. Quiet but industrious, 'Reagan' is an EP released ahead of their third album (Types Of Wood, April 24th) The Reagan EP is a mixture of fast paced folk tinged punk with sparse drumbeats and Beck style vocals. Title track ‘Reagan’ is a simple love tune, sample line, “I fell in love with you, you stole my heart, now I can’t stand you”. The rest of the EP is a mix of thrash core and acoustic dittys. Three years ago Whirlwind Heat sounded ahead of their time and were promptly ignored, not they are one of hundreds of similar bands which could pose a problem. Let's hope the album delivers more of the same.
