Elle Milano could not be more perfect for 2006 if they tried. They are quirky, jerky, funky and punky. They are, one would imagine, an art student’s new favourite band. However the band are slightly more than the flavour of the month. They sport a cynicism of the clichés of manufactured popular culture, the British scene and pretentious, flippant, student culture (As shown on the title track of the EP). The band take a broad swipe at Lad culture on both ‘Men Are Bastards‘ and ‘Amphetamine Skyrocket’. The latter riddled with devastating one liners like “I took her out the back and gave her a slap, cos we lost the England match.” Final track ‘Believe Your Own Hype Always’ says it all for the band, start believing because this band are the musical equivalent of giving an eloquent middle finger to everything you hate. Simply brilliant.
