Let us take you back in time. To a 1950’s American diner. The leather jacket wearing boys jump off their motorbikes, stub out their cigarettes and buy an ice cream sundae. The door swings open and in steps The Pipettes. They breeze straight past the boys, take to the stage and wow everybody with ‘Your Kisses Wasted On Me’. The boys swoon and the girls ask them were they got their dresses from. The Pipettes are that gloriously retro. ‘Your Kisses Are Wasted On Me’ is two and a half minutes of unadulterated fun and brilliance. An ode to a dumped boyfriend, The Pipettes sound more Motown than Michael Jackson singing Baby Love by The Supremes ( and we all know that will never happen). In a perfect world The Pipettes would be celebrating their 17th consecutive week at number one on Top Of The Pops, they are producing pop music the way it should be- fast, clever and most importantly- fun!
