On ‘Adventure’ Be Your Own Pet have cut back on the E numbers, taken their Ritalin, added some melody and out-grown, for two and half minutes anyway, the proto-grunge thrash-athons that first grabbed everyone’s attention on previous singles ‘Damn Damn Leash’ and ‘Lets Get Sandy (Big Problem). And boy oh boy oh boy oh boy have they only gone and produced their best yet. Jemina (Who makes Gigwise feel a helluva lot sleazy and slimy for fancying her!) slinks around incessant drum rolls and screeching, razorblade riffs with a spoken word, come semi-singing ease - youthful exuberance oozing out of her mid-west brogue. The tearaway teens have surpassed the hype, torn off the learner badges from their backsides and strode forcefully into new realms of radiance. One of them has even grown a moustache - is there anything these kids can’t do?!
