




A few years back when rock was king and indie was largely shite, Hundred Reasons where at the top of their game; a brilliant antidote to the nu-metal hordes. But now the kids are wearing eyeliner and straightening their hair again, and that’s just the guys, so what has become of these post-rock masters? ‘Kill Your Own’ shoots off with a squealing electronic effect, quickly flanked by some full-on rhythm guitar and speeds headlong forward, with only the occasional dip to allow some thoughtful verse musing. It’s a banging little tune and keeps threatening to explode into a massive climax, but it never comes, and though it crashes along, pushing aside all in its wake it ultimately leads nowhere. Like a big bloody tank then, but a worn-out one with a desperate and confused mercenary at the controls…
