These days we‘re used to a blurring of barriers between music genres.  But, the lyrics to this and extra track ‘Turning the Gun On Myself’ still seem almost self-consciously out of place in such country-tinged, slow/quiet, guitar- based material. In the main track’s celebration of a happening party Teddy Thompson asks us to “bump and grind, have a good time, free yourself and loose your mind” because “the party pumping and the groove is on.”  While on ‘Turning The Gun On Myself’ he wonders “Who would disturb my slumbering with this late seventies beat?” on being awoken by someone playing ‘Rappers Delight.’  It all works to pleasant effect, though. The sweet and jaunty ‘Everybody Move It’ featuring Martha and Rufus Wainwright ends up sounding like nothing more than a paean to a good old fashioned hoe-down.
