Think of a one man band, think old geezer in knackered suit, harmonica, kazoo, cymbals and drum on his back. Not anymore. Think uber sleek cyber chick kicking out minimalist angular electronica all by herself, not a bit of tweed in sight. Think Theoretical Girl. ‘It’s All Too Much’ is three minutes of agitated drum machine posturing, synth pouting and long layered guitar stares caressed with angelic ‘butter wouldn’t melt in my mouth’ vocals of the said imaginary miss. B-side ‘I Am Theoretical Girl’ is the demonic side of her psyche, her manifesto of existence coursing around the central lines of “I am Theoretical Girl, I don’t exist in the physical world” like the child of some weird copulation between a Mini-Moog and an Arpeggiator. Electro-land here we come!
