Cut Copy ‘Going Nowhere’ (Modular) Released 23/01/06

Melbourne synth-pop trio Cut Copy continue their uncanny impression of New Order with another blast of euphorica that also throws the sounds of Royksopp, Phoenix and a fair bit of guitar feedback into the mix. The result is a bit like eating apple-flavoured astrobelts laced with MDMA powder – almost too sweet, but something in you wants another bite and to feel that sugary rush all over again.  And then hug someone (that’s the MDMA kicking in). A far more menacing slant is put on the track with the Digitalism remix, mutating the original into the kind of chunky, acidic house that Stuart Price is currently force-feeding Madonna – and it’s the stuff from which epiphanies are made.
