Another new Liars single, another journey into the unknown. For the New York three piece have the unique but simple ability to turn the most straightforward of three minute pop songs into something like nothing else out there. ‘The Other Side Of Mt. Heart Attack’ is no different. Resting on a bed of rhythmic, cyclical lyrics and drum beats it tells the story of the character Mt. Heart Attack, an embodiment of stress and self doubt. As usual with Liars it is not the meaning of the lyrics which creates the beauty but the way they are offered to us and this time it is sublime. How this song could ever be connected to anything to do with stress is beyond Gigwise, the whole ethereal nature of it simply relaxes the senses with one listen. Stunning.
