Slicker than a Spaniard’s pony tail and more eighties than the Bravery at a roller disco, comes The Cinematics first single proper with TVT – ‘Break’. And the lads from Glasgow seem to have aged at least ten years since last years’ fledgling touring; if this hunk of glossy, filmic indulgement is anything to go by. Theatrical vocals, creeping bass and power guitar mingle in a Duran Duran/Simple Minds fired belter. The lyrics are dodgy at best: “Darkness can sometimes be a pleasure to me…I’ll stand around from the outside – I’ll be peering from the edge…” O step into the light, Cinematics, so we can congratulate you for this melodramatic brilliance.
