Step aside Dave Grohl, the real Nicest Man in Rock is back Graham Coxon. While ‘Standing On My Own Again’ doesn’t reach the halcyon Brit-punk heights of ‘Freakin’ Out’, it still glimmers darkly with wonderfulness: spiky thrash-pop that’s full of buzzy guitars and Coxo’s charmingly pre-teen-sounding voice (who else could pull off a line as Steptoe-esque as ‘Just don’t wanna see you going down the pan’?). Oh dear, just when we’d finished our ‘Graham Coxon Aceness Chart’, it looks like we’ll have to clear some space for another gold star. No rest for the wicked, eh?
